AEROBATICS
Earliest: The first aerobatics maneuver is generally considered the sustained inverted flight in a Bleriot of Celestin-Adolphe Pegoud (1889-1915) at Buc, France, sept 21, 1913, but Lieut Peter Nikolayevich Nesterov (1887-1914), of the Imperial Russian Air Service, performed a loop in a Nieuport Type IV monoplane at Kiev, USSR, Aug 27, 1913.
World Championships
Held biennially since 1960 (excepting 1974), scoring is based on the system devised by Col Jose Aresti of Spain. The competitions consist of two compulsory and two free programs. Team competition has been won on 4 occasions by the USSR. No individual has won more than one title, the most successful competitor being Igor Egorov (USSR) who won in 1970, was second in 1976, fifth in 1972 and eleventh in 1968. The most successful in the women's competition has been Lidia Leonova (USSR) with first place in 1976, second in 1978, third in 1972 and fifth in 1970.
Inverted Flight
The duration record for inverted flight is 2 hours 15 min 4 sec by John Leggatt in a Champion Decathlon on May 28, 1974, over the Arizona Desert.
Loops
John "Hal" McClain performed 1,501 1/2 inside loops in a pitts S-2A over Long Beach Calif, Dec 16,1973. He also achieved 180 outside loops in a Bellanca Super Decathlon, Sept 2, 1978, over Houston, Tex.

Though the earliest evidence of the existence of bows is seen in the Mesolithic cave paintings in spain , archery as an organised sport appears to have developed in the 3rd century AD. The world governing body is the Federation Internationale (FITA), founded in 1913.
Flight Shooting
The longest flight shooting records are achieved in the footbow class. In the unlimited footbow division, the professional Hary Drake 7 May, 1915 of Lakeside, Calif, holds the record at I mile 268 yd, shot at Ivanpah Dry Lake, Calif, Oct 24, 1971. The crossbow record is 1,359 yd limited handbow class .

The world records for single FITA roud are: men, 1,341 points by Darrell Pace (US) at kumamoto, Japan, Nov 3-4,1979; and women, 1,321 points by Natalia Butuzova (USSR) in poland, Aug 1979.
Most Tiles
The greatest number of world titles ever won by a man is 4 by Hans Deutgen (Sweden), 1947-50. The greatest number won by a woman is 7 by Mrs Janina spychajowa- Kurkowska (poland), 1931-34, 1936, 1939 and 1947.
Oscar Kessels (Belgium) participated in 21 world championships.
Olympic Medals: Hubert van Innis (Belgium ) (1866- 1961) won 6 gold and 3 silver medals in archery events at the 1900 and 1920 Olympic Games.
Greatest Pull : Gary Sentman o Roseburg, Ore drew a longbow weighing a record 176 Ib to the maximum draw on the arrow at Forksville, sept 20, 1975.
Highest 24 Hour Score : The record over 24 hours by a pair of arches is 51,633 during 48 portsmouth Rounds (60 arrows at 20 yards with a 2- in diameter 10 ring) shot by Jimmy Watt and Gordon Danby at the Epsom showgrounds Auckland , NZ , Nov 18-19,1977.
